Russian anti-corruption activist Alexei Nawalny has been put in a detention cell for ten days for organizing a rally against police arbitrariness. A Moscow court sentenced him to the penalty for attending an unauthorized rally on June 12.
"Not nice, but I think I did it right, if we keep silent and stay at home, that arbitrariness will never stop," Nawalny wrote in the short message service Twitter.
Nawalny had organized the march as a statement of solidarity for the investigative journalist Ivan Golunov, but the demonstration was also directed against police arbitrariness in general.
