The UAE implements the world's first human rights insurance program
HE Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, affirmed the UAE's keenness to guarantee workers' rights. The state implements the first program of its kind in the world to insure the rights of workers, whether in the private sector or in assisting workers. The insurance system ensures full protection of workers' salaries and entitlements such as end of service benefits, repatriation costs and compensation for work injuries, especially in case of employer's insolvency.
The UAE's efforts to promote sustainable decent work have been confirmed through the adoption and launching of a range of strategies and policies, the most important of which is the National Employment Policy, which has paid close attention to continuing education and advanced skills. He made the remarks at a meeting of the Asia-Pacific Group of Ministers held on the sidelines of the 108th session of the International Labor Conference, which concluded in Geneva, Switzerland.
He explained that the guidance and awareness of the parties to work on their rights and duties towards each other, as well as the settlement of disputes between them transparently and impartially, constitute one of the aspects of the partnership system between the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and the private sector to contribute to the provision of distinct labor services to employers and workers, Guidance "and service centers" agree "managed by private sector national cadres under the supervision of the ministry.
He pointed out that the transfer of labor between countries plays a pivotal role in the future of work, which will be one of the main themes that will be discussed during the next two years, within the agenda of the Abu Dhabi Dialogue, which became the most important regional consultative process on the management of labor mobility between countries.
The UAE, which according to Global Competitiveness Reports is the second most competitive labor market in the world, supports the Abu Dhabi Dialogue because of its active role in the governance of the temporary contractual work cycle between the sending and receiving countries in our region and enhancing the mutual development benefits between these countries.
"There are many challenges posed by the future of work, which requires strengthening partnerships and cooperation between the ILO and the Group of Asian and Pacific States to develop the prospects for action in the world in general and in our region in particular, and to provide decent jobs for job seekers," he said.
He added that the countries of the world are currently experiencing rapid economic and social changes have cast a shadow on the world of work, and requires that we work together to take advantage of the opportunities created by the future work and deal with the challenges as required.
The UAE delegation, headed by HE Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization, participated actively in the 108th session of the International Labor Conference, which marked the 100th anniversary of the founding of the ILO. He also discussed the impact of the world labor markets on technological development and the need to harmonize skills with jobs. And to increase investment in human capacity and in employment institutions and in decent and sustainable work through a program of work jointly implemented by the three parties for production in cooperation with relevant international actors, including the International Labor and Trade Organizations.
The conference discussed the information and reports prepared by the ILO committees on the implementation of international labor conventions and recommendations, and ways of eliminating violence in the world of work.
