Météo-France is planning for the moment "at least six days of heat wave", from Monday, June 24. But as of Sunday, the thermometer should climb above 30 ° C "over a large part of the country," says Météo-France, with hot air from the Maghreb and Spain. The heat wave will first touch "regions of the center in the northeast of the country," said François Gourand.
From Tuesday, "we expect 35 to 40 ° C (under cover) in the vast majority of regions," according to a statement. "These very high temperatures could persist until the next weekend especially on the eastern half," warns the weather forecasting institute.
Wednesday and Thursday – estimated day of peak temperatures – only the seafront from Pas-de-Calais to Loire-Atlantique and Corsica should remain below the 35 ° C.
The temperatures will remain very high at night, offering little respite: "the mercury will not fall below the 20 ° C mark in much of the country".
"This heat wave should last all week," warned Météo-France.
