The Federal Prosecutor's Office in Karlsruhe has brought charges against several suspected members of the right-wing extremist group "Revolution Chemnitz". The men are accused of having formed a terrorist organization to commit attacks, report NDR, WDR and "Süddeutsche Zeitung" (SZ). The trial is expected to open in the autumn before the Higher Regional Court Dresden.
A spokeswoman for the federal prosecutor's office confirmed the indictment, without giving any further details, and announced a statement for this Tuesday.
Encrypted chat messages
The Attorney General has been investigating the suspects for some time. The eight men, aged 21 to 31, were arrested on 1 October. They are said to have planned to incite a violent uprising in Berlin on October 3, the day of German unification. One of the defendants admitted in his interrogation that the action should have "suspended laws", according to NDR, WDR and SZ.
Among other things, the indictment is based on protocols of encrypted chat messages that the suspects sent each other, reports the research network. According to findings of the Federal Prosecutor's Office, the men were in the process of getting firearms. According to their own information, NDR, WDR and SZ assume that the group is well connected in the right-wing extremist scene in Saxony. She is said to have advertised in the hooligan milieu for reinforcement.
